Overnight risks

Stayed at Cadney Park overnight. Next morning it was clear that some hoons took off, spun, and rammed into the guard rail around the LPG installation. So staying off camping on the roadside does not always ensure safety.

Raised Dust over Alice Springs NT

Eagles feast

It took a lot of frustration before Jeanette finally convinced some eagles to pose for her

A real "Wide Load"

No sign of Col on escort?????

In trouble again

Our Ford 9" diff modified for the Scout has again let us down, at Port Augusta. RACV instructed the SA RAA to put the Scout on a tray and take it to the workshops, then our van and us to the Big 4 park where they had paid for our site. The 4km tow was $250, and RACV told the RAA guy they would pay it rather than have us risk further damage driving the vehicle to the park.
That option was not available under RAA cover. The Victorian RACV was the best in Australia when I downloaded and read the conditions of Roadside Assistance from every firm offering such cover, before we took RACV Total Care, before leaving on this trip.

Area of Darwin Waterfront being developed, opposite the original pier.

Darwin Waterfront

Jeanettes photo taken from the pier demonstrates how close this huge LPG tanker is to darwin while unloading for the NT Electricity Dept, and also how close to the being constructed "Waterfront Development" with high rise apartments, convention centre all in close proximity.

Smokey sunset Tennant Creek Tuesday night

Inside the van, damage.

Bits of rubber and steel strands inside a cupboard. The rivets holding the floor down onto the frame of the van have been snapped off.

Damage done by tyre

The tread was good, as the tyre had not done many km, but we had it many years. Bits of tyre still protruding from the floor of the van, which the tyre has shattered.

Tyre on the van, Wednesday events

A load bang 45 km North of Tea Tree and smoke pouring out from the van, seen in the re view mirror gave us a clue!!!!!

NT Gov. Subsidize these "heat pump" hot water systems, seems strange to have a hot water system with "refrigerant "
