A Big Metal Detector

Sunday 20th July a “big” helicopter arrived at Daly River Mango Farm Tourist Park, which the tourists thought was to entertain them. And indeed it was most intriguing for the next ten days for many of the travelling public to be able to observe from outside their caravans as the skilful pilot would lift the intricate arrangement of Kevlar ropes and lines plus electrical connections and the actual unit to enable scanning of the countryside with what in essence was the biggest metal detector we have ever seen. The 26 metre diameter“ring” was hollow ducting some constructed of fibre glass and some of graphite fibre with four lots of electrical cable running through the ducting. Prior to each flight magnetic influence was checked and the computers formatted. At the end of each two hour survey the data was dispatched via satellite internet connection to the parent company in USA, where the client would then be supplied with the data. After the client checked the data the advice would then come back with further instructions on how to continue to carry out the survey. And unfortunately the client was pleased with the findings and the drilling rigs are on the way to do the test holes that will ultimately lead to huge open cut mining ruining the country to put the main profits in the pockets of uncaring overseas investors!!!!!!!!!!! And will that lead to noxious by-products leaching into the Daly River? Mining destroys so much!
Future generations of Australians will end up with a country that is nothing more than a huge degraded crater, and the only compensation being employment for a few.
